"EMERGENCY CONDITIONS" NOMENCLATURE
CONDITION YELLOW: A potential emergency activation may occur in our
county or elsewhere. "Stand-by" and prepare for possible activation.
CONDITION RED: An emergency or disaster exists in one or more locations
within the county. A net has been activated. Stand-by for instructions.
SEVERE WEATHER WATCH: Severe weather conditions are likely in the watch
area. Monitor emergency frequencies including NWS.
SEVERE WEATHER WARNING: A severe weather event is imminent or has already
occurred. A net has been activated. Stand-by for instructions.
RED FLAG FIRE WATCH: A hazardous condition issued by the NWS office in
Redding and implemented by the CDF: Ranger Unit Chief, Duty Chief, or
Prevention staff. All ARES/VIP volunteers stand-by for possible activation. Radio Room at
CDF is staffed by a VIP net control operator.
RED FLAG FIRE WARNING: Same as "WATCH" above, but RED FLAG
PATROLS and LOOKOUTS will be activated at the discretion of the CDF VIP HAMCO.
CONDITION WHITE: "All Clear". No potential or actual emergency
conditions that may require ARES operators has been identified.
