Douglas, Coos and Curry Counties:
SPOTTER CRITERIA FOR DOUGLAS, COOS, AND CURRY COUNTIES
TORNADOES, FUNNEL CLOUDS, SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS, OR WATER SPOUTS
Tornadoes or funnel clouds are observed.
Hail observed ½ inch in diameter or larger.
Rainfall at a rate of ½ inch or more an hour.
Wind gusts of 45 miles an hour or more.
RAINFALL
One inch or more in 12 hours.
1 ½ inches or more in 24 hours.
Rain that freezes on contact with the ground or other surfaces.
SNOWFALL
Below 1500 ft. two or more inches of new snow.
Above 1500 ft. four or more inches of new snow.
WINDS (see Beaufort scale)
Coastal strip estimated winds of 45 mph or greater.
Interior areas estimated wind of 35 mph or greater.
SMALL STREAM FLOODING
Small streams are flooding or near flood and rising.
Water ponding in low areas or crossing roadways.
DENSE FOG
Visibility 100 yards or less and affecting major roadways.
EARTHQUAKES OR TREMORS
